I remember going with him to Scotland to pick up his first boat, which was a basic shell. We towed it home and when I next called round he was in it, almost overcome with glass fibre fumes, while fitting the interior. He gave Brian his first real job. Although I lost touch with him in later years, I always I admired him for straight talking, he called a spade a JCB! Our thoughts and prayers are with Roberta and family. John and Joan Hayes.
